I’d rather be in Sitges

If I could be anywhere else this week, I think it would be at Sitges, the seaside town near Barcelona where the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia starts tomorrow (October 4) and continues for the next week. Think of it, sea, sangria and a whole host of fantasy, horror and sci-fi movies all on the one doorstep… Beats a wet week in Blackpool with a load of Tories, I can tell you.

Some of what I’m taking to be the highlights include:

Not quite the Friday Flash: A funny thing happened in hyperspace

Okay pop-pickers, here’s the first of my flashes designed to catch up with those that I’ve missed over the last few weeks. This one is based on a theme suggested by my fellow Friday Flashers over on our facebook group. Almost back to reality

Well the party conference season is almost over and that means that life has almost returned to reality and I’ll be able to get back to this blog very soon with real content, I promise.

In the meantime may I direct you to a few other sites:

BSFA AWARDS OPEN

Niall at Torque Control says all that I could want and more… Get nominating you mugs.

COOL 2000AD TEE SHIRTS

Sadly I doubt whether even their XL would cover my left tit, but these are cool tee-shirts. I lust after the Harlem Heroes, Strontium Dog and Eat Plutonium versions. How cruel is it to make geeky tee-shirts and then not make them in sizes that real geeks can wear?

THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORTATION

Courtesy of Engadget - soon I need never step outside again.

PRINCE IS COOL

Apropos of nothing, I would just like to thank The Observer for giving away Prince’s Sign o’ the Times dvd with their paper today and reminding me just how funky a song Housequake is.

FRIDAY FLASH

I know it seems like I’ve forgotten, but I haven’t. I’ve just been too busy. I have stories in books that need to be typed up, I hope to post three this week in a mad catch-up exercise.

And now I pass you back to a miserable, cold Blackpool for the Conservative Conference and the opportunity for boundless comedy at their depthless ineptitude. Because, yes, a cut in inheritance tax is exactly the kind of radical thinking that’s going to put them back in touch with middle England.
