It appears that this blog isn’t being displayed properly in Internet Explorer. I believe this is one because of one of the (many, many, many) glitches that appear to have been introduced into Wordpress with the release of version 2.8. I’ll try and fix it, but this leads me to offer two pieces of advice.

1. If you have a Wordpress blog DON’T UPGRADE TO 2.8 – it’s an utter dog. What use, for example, is blogging software that won’t let you type in text unless you install a plug-in text editor?

2. Don’t use Internet Explorer. But hey, that’s just common sense.

This is a quick note to all who know me.

I’ve just discovered (well, it’s now 4:50am, I found out about midnight, I’ve been trying to fix it find out what’s wrong since then) I’ve been having problems with my email account and my ISP – messages not being sent or getting bounced back and not getting informed as to their status and the messages apparently disappearing into a bottomless black hole.

Which is annoying.

AFAIK it only seems to have been a problem with outgoing mail, but at the minute I’m not sure how long it has been going on or how many people are affected – but if you’ve been expecting email from me and haven’t received it, could you let me know.

I’ve been gettin spammed to death over the las few weeks so, somewhat reluctantly (since past experiences haven’t been great), I’m going to add a spam filter to the blog to see if it helps.

I’ve just noticed that (since the end of the redesign/upgrade to 2.5) my RSS feed isn’t picking up messages posted here – can anyone passing by confirm whether or not they’re getting my posts on RSS feed?

Since I’m guessing I’ve broken something, can anyone who knows anything about RSS feeds suggest whether there’s anything I can do to reconnect people?

It started off as a quick test to see what was possible and ended up with a whole new blog… seven hours later, it’s 5:30am and frankly I’m not sure I’ve got a particularly firm grip on reality.

Still the old grey design was getting me down.

Perviously, although I’ve used wordpress to power this blog it was an installation done by my ISP. This was the first time I’ve done an installation from the ground up (well, with some help from Pragya’s Redie template, which I’ve tweaked.

Wordpress is a pretty remarkable piece of software – just fiddling about with this made me realise there’s a hell of a lot a more dedicated programmer could make this thing do.

Anyway, I hope you like the new look – do let me know if you come across broken things.
